Sue Collins

I am an Auckland based artist living in Mt Eden.

I have a Diploma in Commercial and Graphic art and in 2016 completed a diploma in Ceramic Art.

The ability to express myself visually has always been an important part of who I am. I enjoy the process of construction, deconstruction and exploration of form through painting and sculpture.  

In making work, I am reconnecting with all that’s familiar to me. Patterns of understanding bridge periods of reflection, an idea is formulated, my imagination takes hold and a story begins. Sometimes playful and satirical each piece has its roots firmly connected in personal experience and observation.

The connective power of art to draw out the shared experiences of strangers has long fascinated me, and my work is never complete until it passes through this final stage.
