Diana Seavill

Diana is originally from Hamilton, New Zealand but she has lived, worked and travelled widely, teaching English in the UK, the Middle East and Europe as well as NZ.

She took up painting as an adult and has worked in oils, water colours, mixed media and these days, back home in Hamilton, mainly in acrylics.

She has always taken her inspiration from the colours and shapes of landscapes she has travelled through as well as from objects she has encountered, creating textured, layered works and using expressive responses to move the work away from the original observation or reference object towards a new, less representational, more painterly outcome. The joy obtained by the “happy accident” is always a surprise.

Diana’s paintings have been shown and sold in public and private exhibitions and many hang in private collections in New Zealand, as well as the other countries she has visited and lived in.
